The Flower Strip

The Netherlands in bloom

Every spring, the Flower Strip bursts into vivid colors as bulbs shoot out of the ground and millions of flowers blossom. From Leiden to Haarlem, bold beautiful stripes of color flame across the landscape.

First the pink crocuses bloom. Then a countless variety of tulips, yellow daffodils and purple hyacinths. This impressive display continues into May and beyond. In late summer the gladiolas, dahlias, carnations and asters stage a second show of color.

A great way to experience our blooming beauties is a visit to the Keukenhof Flower Gardens, the world’s largest flower garden. Open from March to May, you can experience the sight and scent of 7 million blooming flower bulbs. There’s a petting zoo and playground for the kids.
