Amsterdam’s first ‘no table’ restaurant, 212 is the dream of Michelin-starred chef Richard van Oostenbrugge and his right-hand man Thomas Groot, who previously worked together at the renowned Bord’Eau restaurant. Restaurant 212 prides itself as having ‘fewer rules, and more adventure’ and this can be experienced in the duo’s creative, innovative dishes, often served with a surprising twist.
Guests are seated at the counter and are able to follow the chef’s every chop, whip, sauté and garnish. Interaction with the chefs is part of the experience, and the dishes are served with loving explanations about the ingredients and techniques. Multiple-course meals as well as à la carte menus are available. Tip: guests rave about the cheese plate, which features unique local varieties and is accompanied by homemade jams and chutneys.
